“Am I too old for you? Well, I’m telling you something, Stephane: I may be old, but I can still outrun my own son, that goody two-shoes kid from Germany, and that spoiled brat princess-of-a-fellow model from Italy. Heck, I can still beat that big, fat Bugatti, for all I care. 20 mph is nothing. I can beat just about everyone in that paddock. And I mean everyone there, from that lowly Ass Ton to that trying-hard Swede. I can smoke them—and I will smoke them!!!—and I would last longer than these guys even when driven hard.

“So get me in this fucking boat, Stephane. I started this. I am the first hypercar. I put every prototype to shame in 1995. I am the standard in natural aspirated V12’s. Has Ferrari topped me? NO! He can’t do it, even if he shifts faster, even if Michael Schumacher helped build his cars, even if he’s lighter—no he isn’t. His cars have got every single doo-dad in the book and he still can’t do what I have done.

“Get me in that Club, Stephane. I may be well over 20 years old, but put me side by side with those guys and after 10 laps they’ll feel inadequate. They’re more powerful than me, more advanced than me, has better tires than me, but I have what it takes to completely humiliate them.

“Oh, and get my LM and GT brothers in there, too. I didn’t tell them to race, but after ‘95, we knew we can beat any car, on any circuit, in any distance. We’ll stick all their stats to their throats.

Actually, I’d be willing to bet that the P1, as well as the LaFerrari and 918, can put down faster lap times than the F1. The F1 remains arguably the greatest automotive engineering feat of its time, but 20 years have passed. When the F1 first came out, Beverly Hills 90210 was all the rage, and there was still music on MTV. A lot of advancements have been made since then, both on and off the track. The newer cars may be heavier and may not have the same outright top speed, but they can make better use of their power and maintain higher speeds in any given section of a track than we’ve ever seen before.

My guess is that it is the Ferrari 308GT4 based special referred to at the end of this article. My first thought was that it was a Koenig Ferrari, but a quick GIS showed those didn’t have round headlights or auxiliary lights.

There was a visually challenging Ferrari 308GT4 based ‘special’ too from Luigi Moreschi, the car with apparent IMSA heritage has clearly seen use in Europe since those days.
